Teardrops

Teardrops.
16 gauge sterling, interlocking in 15mm hammered and tumble polished chain segments, wire-wrapped with 7mm Mystic Iolite and hung from handmade sterling ear wires. All metal is lacquered to protect it's bright finish and make for more comfortable wear.
The song that accompanied me during construction;

Wouldn't it be awesome if I could just communicate through music? I wouldn't have to think of the right words, I could just hum my feelings.
:)

There is a certain elegance to winter, a rhythm that moves on as it should, in spite of our man made lives attempting to dominate the nature around us. Its relentless cold fits what is inside right now.

  1. Love them Shannon. :) The song is a good one, I like that video. You'll have to check out the video by Walking off the Earth doing this song. Its very good too. I posted it on my Facebook personal page over the weekend if you scroll through. Hugs to you! <3

  2. Those are elegant and feminine! I was wondering if sterling silver could be lacquered, it tarnishes so fast that would be a nice fix. Yes, sometimes a song or a fragrance or a color seems to say it all. Finding words can get tiring and you get sick of talking about stuff.

    Hope you are hanging in there!

  5. Beautiful earrings, Shannon. I hope that even though you are feeling cold inside that you are starting to feel a bit better.

  6. Love these earrings! They remind me of rain chains that are hung on house corners instead of a downspout. The beads, of course, are the rain. Can almost hear the sound.

  7. You have truly drawn something phenomenal from your emotional upheaval! Those earrings are so expressive, Shannon! All that silver and 7mm iolite, exquisite, dahling, and you wear them so well. I'm sorry to hear about the coldness you're feeling, it's surely to be expected and will thaw in its' own time. As you said, we'd like to control those things, but we can't. Have a better day and use your poignant creativity to the fullest!

  8. Everyone has a way of expressing themselves, and I see that through your wearable art. You have brought out the bittersweet beauty of these teardrops. I have a pair of earrings that has a similar feeling with cool flashes of blue in the labradorite. I love them. These are elegant and so pretty! Thank you for warming me up with this beauty on this frosty day!
    Enjoy the day!

  14. MFM-there seems to be a great deal of meaning in these earrings; but as pieces of wearable art they cascade softly; and look elegant. Go well. B
