Sneak Peek of Work in Progress

Its a break from the ordinary, not that I do not value what I have been creating and building up for the last 4 years, but it feels more like me then anything else. Relaxed, free, non-obligated, self directed, born from the rhythmic movements of past techniques that can be done with my eyes closed - combined with the new skills hammered out in the dusty backroom. The way the silk pours over my sore, battered fingertips and how it combines so well with work hardened metal.

I have to make some time to work on this idea I have had for a little while. I do not have enough pieces to call it a collection just yet, but I am loving the texture, color and uniqueness that they are showing me. Think: organic, ragged, bold, ethnic, with the life infusing colors of chartreuse, fuchsia, chestnut, royal blue, linked together with earth stones of amethyst, iolite, turquoise, jade.

I am creating with the purpose to sell and earn a living, but driven from the heart of where I am now, where I want to be in the future and the experiences from the past.
A little peek.....

  1. Oooh pretty Shannon! I love copper and you do great work with it.

By the way, I finally got some pics up on wiggysistersart.blogspot.com of the skirt I made from table napkins. Cute skirt. Terrible pictures.

    See ya!

  3. Love the addition of fiber to your metal and beads Shannon! It brings a textural softness to the pieces. You sure have a beautiful style, all your own!

  4. What a great sneak peek! I know you said you weren't creating to sell, but I sure do love these - especially loving your increased integration of copper (and brass). Recently I finally paired the odd skin reactions I was having tend to occur when I wear sterling silver -but I'm not a fan of the look of gold :( Copper is warm but edgy I think, rustic but modern...
Love the freeflow of the peek of these pieces.
