Your Comments

After an 11 day stay in the hospital, Mike is now home!
He is still weak and the wound on his arm is straight out of a horror film, but he is here!
It has been explained to us that this will take some time to heal, maybe 3 to 4 weeks, and he requires home health care (God bless those nurses that came out in 4 inches of snow on Christmas day!) still, he is most definitely getting better.

This has been a nightmare. My brain felt like it was going to explode, trying to think of ways to control this situation that I had no control over, trying to stay connected to my kids to relieve their fears when my own threatened to consume my sanity,  the anxiety over Mike's condition that distracted me during driving in bad conditions (we had one of the worst ice storms in history here in Missouri on the 15th and it left me stranded on a side road for 4 hours), business tasks that had to be completed, and a house that still had to be kept. I mean, like it or not, we all still needed to wear clean underwear.

But the support you all showed me, in your comments, emails and phone calls, gave me strength.
It might not seem like much, a simple "We are praying for your family, Shannon", but it meant so much.
Each one I used to prop myself up with and move on to the next thing that had to be done.
Thank you doesn't seem adequate but it is all I have;
Thank you.

  1. i am so very relieved to hear that things are all headed in the right direction... you have certainly been put through the ringer - and that ice storm sounds horrific... somehow or other, we put one foot in front of the other, and we get further than we were before... take good care of yourself as well - because you have given 1000% to maintain everyone and a body (and mind) can only handle so much...

Are you open for business during the holidays? I’d like to buy your pdf tutorial.

  6. Oh Sweet Shannon you know we love you and are here for you always as you would be for us. I am truly happy that Mike is home and that you were able to have everyone together on Christmas. You do not need to do this alone that is what friends are for so lean on us all you need!

  9. Bless your heart, Shannon! I'm so glad to see some news and that it's good news! You really came through a very tough time, and it poured on you, being stranded in your car AND your husband in the hospital, AND kids needed reassurance and food, etc etc. Any advice seems inadequate, but soldier on, don't look back. You can digest it all later. Wish I were there to help you, Bravo for you, you brought out the inner strength. I'm very proud of you!

  10. I am so sad to read this and will also pray for him. My husband, very healthy until a month ago, has pancreatic cancer so I am very sad to read about your situation, too. We have had so much love and generosity handed out to us and my heart is filled with gratefulness and sadness.

I'll bet you are so glad for Home Health Care. I am busy looking into that right now,

    Sending hugs,
    Suz

  12. oh my goodness, I missed your previous post. My heart aches and aches for you. Watching a loved one go through this, while worrying about your children, while facing the unknown, it brings tears to my eyes. from far away, i send so much love and concern. i wish i could do more. why horrific things have to happen in seemingly every life is a mystery. however i've also seen people come back from indescribable experiences to live a stable and fulfilling life (me).
hugs and kisses and well wishes impossible to put into words.

  28. Shannon, I am so sorry to hear about what you've gone through over the holidays, but especially for your husband. I hope he is recuperating and resting and that the worst is behind you.
Being stranded for 4 hours along the road sounds like a true nightmare. Thinking of you!

  29. Shannon,
I am just beginning to create jewelry and I have not been able to find materials to create the style of jewelry I want to make. I have been frustrated and discouraged, and then I found you! Just today. And I am so excited--your work is amazingly beautiful and I will place an order very soon. It exactly fits what I had in mind to make. I am sorry to hear about your husband, but glad things are better. I took the time to write because my wonderful husband had cancer in both kidneys last year and I understand your heartache and weariness---he is doing so great and I pray your husband will recover fully from this awful ordeal. I will say a prayer for you and your family today. Thank you for your amazing work--you have a beautiful gift!

  32. This is my first visit to your blog. I recently purchased from your etsy store (love your store). Just wanted to give you and Mike some good wishes and hope he recovers all right. An infection like that is super scary (and deadly). I had MRSA a year ago--horrible experience. Hope the pain is subsiding. God bless.

  33. Well this was a sobering post and my heart goes out to you and your family. My hope is that Mike's spiriit and sense of humor give him the capacity to kick that damn cancer in the ass. Sorry for the swearing...just sorry to hear you and yours going through so much. My thoughts are with you and I'm hoping for best outcomes.
