  12. Feel better soon Shannon! Thanks for that little bit of insight into your process, loved it! Yes, there are people out here where sunflowers have a profound meaning for them. My son used to spit sunflower hulls EVERYWHERE! I wish he were still here for me to yell at. I even got a sunflower tattoo in his memory (I always said I'd never get a tattoo). Take care!

    1. That is the perfect spirit and meaning to attach to the sunflower, now it has meaning for me also, Lori. Thank you for sharing this with me.

  14. Can I just say how much I loved seeing the rumpled kleenex next to your pliers when you turned your laptop around? It's just the kind of thing I would have lying around if I tried to do a video last week while in the midst of the creeping crud.
Your long chains are super fun. I think it's great to see a video of your process and hear your voice. You should definitely do it again. But you don't need to wait until you get sick. Hope you are feeling better!

  17. Watched this the other day and blogger wouldn't let me comment - I'm so sorry you've been so sick :-( I know just how hard and pressuring it is when you are self-employed - I don't have any kids depending on me (unless you count my 4 bunnies ;-)) but it is still stressful on top of the just being ill crappiness of it all! I love hearing all of my bloggy friends speak, it's really amazing that we can make these connections. These necklaces are awesome - the bermuda blue works perfectly with the copper and I just know how fab they would look on, especially on you. Get well soon! You're in my thoughts often. x

  18. Girlfriend you are a rockstar! I am so thrilled that you did this video. It is so much fun to hear you (sending vicks by the way) and hearing how you work and make your creations. Thank you soooooo much!

  19. You're adorable. Don't you just love the super sexy voice you get when you're sick? I was sick most of last week and still have a bit of the super sexy voice... though it loses it's effect when I sneeze all over the place.

SO! Sunflower meaning. I would have thought someone would have posted this already. Most flowers have a Christian meaning... which is a bit annoying to me. I mean, c'mon. Not EVERY flower can be associated with Mary, can it? Can't just one be associated with Shiva, or Ganesha (my personal fave)? ANYHOO:

The sunflower's proper name is Helianthus annuus- Helianthus comes from the Greek "Helios" which means "sun" and "anthos" which means "flower." In China, they symbolize longevity. The sunflower's turning as it follows the sun symbolizes deep loyalty and constancy also symbolizes power, warmth, and nourishment. The can also mean haughtiness, false appearances and unhappy love (isn't that just a downer?).

When I went to art school, one class put a heavy emphasis on symbolism. I jump at the chance to look up the meaning of something. :P
